  1. From $12.15\text{ p.m.}$ to $11.30\text{ p.m.}$ is $11\text{ h }15\text{ min}$. The restaurant is closed for $2\text{ h }30\text{ min}$ ($2.30\text{ p.m.}$ to $5\text{ p.m.}$). Open time $= 11\text{ h }15\text{ min} - 2\text{ h }30\text{ min} = 8\text{ h }45\text{ min}$.
