Desmond used pink stars and green stars to decorate a photo frame for his mother. For every 5 pink stars Desmond used, he used 4 green stars. Desmond used a total of 72 stars. How many green stars did Desmond use for the photo frame?
Answer: 32

Worked solution

  1. $5 + 4 = 9$ parts. $72 \div 9 = 8$ stars per part. Green stars $= 4 \times 8 = 32$.
