Nanyang 2025 P6 Maths Prelim — Paper 1 Booklet A Q9 Solution
Question
The pie chart represents the number of mango, vanilla and durian ice creams sold. The number of ice creams sold is also represented by the bar graph. The bar for the number of vanilla ice creams sold has not been drawn. How many vanilla ice creams were sold?
Answer: 4
Worked solution
- From the bar graph, Mango $= 270$ and Durian $= 210$. In the pie chart the Mango sector is a right angle ($\frac{1}{4}$ of the circle), so the total $= 270 \times 4 = 1080$? Using the pie chart proportions, Vanilla $= 1080 - 270 - 210 \times \ldots$
- reading the chart gives Vanilla $= 160$.
