Raffles Girls 2025 P6 Maths Prelim — Paper 1 Booklet A Q14 Solution
Question
The figure shows a semi-circle and a square. The diameter of the semi-circle is 21 cm. What is the perimeter of the figure? (Take $\pi = \frac{22}{7}$)
- 1. 54 cm
- 2. 66 cm
- 3. 68 cm
- 4. 101 cm
Answer: 3
Worked solution
- \text{Semi-circle: } d = 21 \text{ cm}
- \text{Arc length} = \tfrac{1}{2} \times \pi d = \tfrac{1}{2} \times \tfrac{22}{7} \times 21 = 33 \text{ cm}
- \text{Square side} = 21 - 5 - 9 = 7 \text{ cm}
- \text{Perimeter} = \text{arc} + 5 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 9
- = 33 + 35 = 68 \text{ cm}
